For generations, family meal has been the sacred pause before restaurant service: the moment when cooks, servers, bartenders, and dishwashers gather together around the table to eat, reconnect, and prepare themselves for the night ahead.
Debuted this past Monday, February 9th, Bar Bianchi is offering that same sense of care back to the hospitality industry with the launch of Family Meal with Jamie Gordon, a new weekly dinner series created for those working in bars, restaurants, coffee shops, hotels, and more across the city – designed to bring people together early, often, and with intention. At its heart, the night is about serving the industry that serves everyone else, with an accessible offering of lasagna, salad, and focaccia for $15.95. Created with line-level employees in mind — the people who keep the industry running — Family Meal offers cherished hospitality friends a moment to slow down, relax, and gather with colleagues, friends, and chosen family over generous food and well-made drinks at exceptional value.
Celebrating his return to New York City after several years away, drinks industry veteran Jamie Gordon – known for his work with the world’s best bars and brands – will host each Monday from the dining room, pouring wine, mixing aperitivo cocktails and welcoming guests like old friends.
The evening begins with cocktail hour at 5 p.m., as Jamie tends bar and welcomes guests with signature serves priced at $13 each, including the Family Meal Martini made with Fords Gin, vermouths, capers, laurel, and lemon, and the Weeble featuring Fords Gin, Fords Sloe Gin, Citrus Circus Vodka Cocktail, Giffard Crème de Mûre, and honey. Throughout the early evening, a selection of complimentary cicchetti is passed along the bar and high-top tables, inviting guests to settle in and mingle.
As the night unfolds, Bar Bianchi transitions into an intimate, communal setting centered around a shared meal. Guests are seated for dinner at 7 p.m., before the table fills with family-style lasagna layered with veal and beef ragù, fresh tomato sauce, ricotta, mozzarella, parmesan, and Sicilian oregano. The meal is served with classic sharing sides of baby romaine Caesar salad with garlic sourdough croutons and a bright, lemony anchovy dressing, alongside warm garlic focaccia finished with parmesan, parsley, and olive oil. Throughout the evening, the emphasis remains on generosity, ease, and connection, offering guests the simple pleasure of being cared for through thoughtful food, well-made drinks, and genuine hospitality.
“Family meal is hospitality for hospitalians,” says Gordon. “It’s one moment in the day when hierarchy disappears, titles don’t matter and everyone shares the same table. At this space in time the opportunity for communion and reunion feels essential; and this is us trying to offer that feeling back. Hopefully reminding people of what a “meal” can be – you don’t have to eat! It’s a few moments of authentic connection, and an escape into what matters. Obviously, snacks help.”
“One of the most important traditions in our industry is the family meal,” says Jon Neidich, Bar Bianchi founder. “It’s where care, generosity, and connection really begin. With Jamie, we wanted to create something that reflects those values – a place where people can come together early in the week, slow down, and be together. It’s simple, intentional, and very much in the spirit of what Bar Bianchi is about.”
With Gordon at the helm, Family Meal places hospitality front and center, offering industry peers, neighbors, and friends the rare chance to sit on the other side of the table – no theatrics, just generous food, good drinks, and real connection, at an accessible price. It is a weekly reminder of why people fell in love with this industry in the first place.
Family Meal with Jamie Gordon at Bar Bianchi will take place each Monday from 5-9 p.m., with cocktail hour and cicchetti from 5-7 p.m. and dinner service from 7-9 p.m. Dinner is priced at $15.95 per person, with cocktails available for $13 each.
