This spring in River North, Episcope Hospitality will introduce its newest Chicago concept, Motel Bar, inspired by the dependable menus, nostalgic rituals, and warm interiors of Wisconsin supper clubs.
Located at 600 West Chicago, Motel Bar is designed to feel like a place you’ve been coming to for years. Low lighting, rich wood tones, and layered textures create a sense of ease, while a lively, central bar anchors the room. The space unfolds across booths, bar seating, dining tables, and a relaxed lounge, encouraging everything from happy hours to lingering dinners. The walls tell their own story, lined with vintage Midwest photography, collected memorabilia, and nods to hunting lodges and lake houses. A standing piano brings the room to life on select evenings, while darts and other small touches keep the atmosphere social and unpretentious.
The dining menu leans into supper club classics, featuring slow-roasted prime rib carved to order, a hearty garbage salad, complimentary relish trays, and Friday fish fries. The beverage program is rooted in Wisconsin nostalgia, featuring the quintessential Brandy Old Fashioned alongside indulgent ice cream cocktails such as the Grasshopper and Brandy Alexander; boozy, playful nightcaps that nod to the supper club tradition.
In addition to Motel Bar, Episcope opened Monty’s, a center of gravity for 600 W Chicago’s sprawling footprint. Designed to keep pace with the workday, this all-day café features a signature coffee to cocktails bar; a made-to-order walk-up counter with deli classics and gourmet salads; and a market stocked with home and office staples, grab-and-go meals, and everyday essentials.
Mornings at Monty’s begin with breakfast burritos, pastries, and nutrient-packed smoothies, while lunch features vibrant salads, stacked sandwiches, and layered flatbreads. In the late afternoon, Monty’s shifts gears classic cocktails and barsnacks, making it just as suitable for a quick meeting as it is for an easy after-work drink.
