Tech For Troops, a Richmond-based nonprofit focused on empowering Veterans through technology and workforce development, is partnering with the iconic Texas Inn to host a multi-city e-waste collection drive from May 1 at 8:00 AM through May 10 at 5:00 PM across all four Texas Inn locations. Donate old technology and receive a $5 gift card towards any Texas Inn location. Every donation helps provide Veterans and their families with access to computers, training, and digital skills.

The drive will take place at Texas Inn’s Downtown Lynchburg, Cornerstone Lynchburg, Harrisonburg, and Richmond locations, creating accessible drop-off points across key regions of Virginia.

Timed with peak college move-out season, the initiative provides students and community members in Lynchburg, Richmond, Harrisonburg, and surrounding areas with a simple way to dispose of unwanted technology responsibly. Donated items will be refurbished for Veterans or recycled to minimize landfill waste.

“We’re proud to partner with an iconic brand like Texas Inn,” said Mark Casper, CEO and President of Tech For Troops. “This collaboration makes it easy for people to make a real impact. Every device donated helps us provide technology to Veterans who need it.”

Tech For Troops collects used technology that would otherwise be discarded, refurbishing devices for redistribution to Veterans and their families. All hard drives are securely wiped prior to reuse or recycling.

Accepted items include:

  • Laptops and desktop computers
  • Flat panel monitors
  • Tablets and cell phones (Apple devices must be disabled and deactivated)
  • Computer accessories and components
  • Networking cables (Cat5 and Cat6)

The organization encourages the community to take part with a simple message: don’t let your old technology end up in a landfill. Give it new life through responsible recycling.

Donations can be dropped off at participating Texas Inn locations throughout the drive. More information is available at: https://techfortroops.org/support/equipment-donations/
