Big Red F Restaurant Group, renowned for its award-winning restaurants across Colorado’s Front Range, is proud to announce a groundbreaking partnership with Hotchkiss, Colo. based Peak Spirits Distillery, makers of CapRock Gin and MEll Vodka.
All 13 Big Red F restaurants – including Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar, The Post, Centro Mexican Kitchen, West End Tavern and Velvet Elk Lounge – have adopted Mell Zero-Waste Vodka as the house vodka standard for any well drink. (MEll spells “well” when the bottle is turned upside down.) Made from a base of corn and apple, the additive-free spirit boasts a fresh aroma with a lifted nose, round texture and clean finish. Guests can enjoy the new locally distilled vodka in any cocktail – from ice-cold classic martinis at Jax to Moscow mules at the Tavern and imaginative concoctions at Velvet Elk Lounge and Centro.
Better still, MEll Zero Waste Vodka is packaged in returnable one-liter glass bottles. The model is akin to home milk delivery, when reuseable glass bottles were delivered and retrieved by the local milkman. This avoids the need for single-use bottles or even recycled bottles, conserving energy and reducing waste.
“Returnable bottles are a very simple move with enormous downstream benefits and no impact on Big Red F’s operational workflows,” said Lance Hanson, Peak Spirits and Jack Rabbit Hill Farm co-founder. “Just by switching to vodka in returnable bottles, Big Red F will offset 30,000,000 Btus over five years. That’s the equivalent of 6,200 miles of gas in a 25 mpg car.”
“MEll Zero Waste Vodka not only delivers a stand-out flavor profile, but it also aligns perfectly with our focus on reducing waste and sourcing locally. This is an easy win for our guests and for the planet,” said Dave Query, founder and co-owner of Big Red F.
MEll is now pouring at all Big Red F locations.
